Intake Manifold
I HAVE A 427 THAT I'M REBUILDING AND I'M LOOKING FOR A SINGLE PLANE INTAKE MY CAM IS 621 LIFT 3000-3500 STALL 411 REAREND. I HAVE FOUND 3. OSSY.EDLEBROCK VICTOR,AND ONE FROM DOVE PERFORMANCE. ANYONE HAVE SUGGETIONS. THE GUYS AT DOVE SAY THE OSSY IS BETTER THAN THE VICTOR. OSSY IS A PORT O SONIC.HE SAYS DOVE IS BEST.
-
I WOULD LIKE SOME INPUT ON CHOOSING AN INTAKE PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!
-
Dove is a very good intake, works best with their heads. I think you mean an Offy Port-o-sonic, they work fine on the street. If you told us what type of car, what you are going to use it for, and a bit more detail on the engine the input might be a bit more accurate. If this is a stock motor for the street, the factory 4-V intake works great.

OOO....sorry about that just saw Dave's Answer/Question

THANKS FOR THE HELP. I HAVE SEEN SOME POSTS THAT SAY DOVE HAS POOR QUALITY CONTROL, ANY TRUTH TO THAT. IS THE DOVE BETTER THAN THE EDLEBROCK OR DOES IT REALLY MATTER
-
I've never had a Dove but All I've heard has been Good..
Are you a Member of FordFE.com ?? If not try there and you can ask all the Questions there and find the Intake there also...
I run the EDLEBROCK RPM but I'm Not running the same RPM's that you are. I Cruz at 3000 RPM's

I have run the Dove heads and intake, nothing wrong with their quality control. The setup worked great.
-
hello; first off you better get a bigger stall or a smaller cam because she's gonna stumble off the line. the tunnel wedge intake would work with that cam. good luck, wayne.
-
Im going to either buy the edlbrock or the dove what does everyone think the price does not matter only about $75.00 difference
-
hi again; the edelbrock rpm intake will be a good street intake with the auto and still have good torque. good luck, wayne.
-
The guys at dove said that the 621 lift cam would work good with a 3000 32000 stall. They also recommened it.
-
Offy makes a good intake for street. Havn't checked any prices recently though. Last I checked the Offy cams are pretty high. But prob worth it
-
With the set up I have I think that the single plane is the way to go. edlbrock makes one and so does dove.dont know which is better both make a sigle plane.dove compairs there single plane to edlbrock duel plane, but not single to single. I wounder how the edlbrock single plane works.any help?

Single Plane
I don't know if you've looked at a WEIAND, but they make a single plane for the FE. WEIAND is now owned by Holley and here's a link: http://www.holley.com/HiOctn/ProdLin...AMSM/7282.html
I have one of these I plan on putting on a 428 I'm building, but I don't think it will be running for at least 6 months, so I can't say how it performs.

GOT THE DOVE INTAKE IN AND IT LOOKS PRETTY SHARP, NOT CHEAP THOW.
-
Have you run it yet?
Let us know what you think.
Also if you get a chance can you send a few Pic's,I'm wanting to see the runner's"how much bigger they are then like the RPM and the PI intakes.
Thanks,
Chris

I'LL SEND PICS ASAP. DOVE CLAIMS THIS IS THE INTAKE THAT FORD SHOULD HAVE BUILT. DOVE ALSO SAYS THAT THERE INTAKE CREATES MORE TORK AND HORSEPOWER AT 3000 RPM THAN THE PERFORMER RPM. DOVE SINGLE PLAIN VRS. EDELBROCK DUAL PLAIN.

STILL PUTTING THE MOTOR TOGETHER.

Mach1,,
What all have you done to your 427??What are the Internals of it?
I'm getting ready to start on my 390/445 cubic inch stroker
BORE = 4.080
ROD LENGTH = 6.385"
ROD RATIO = 1.50
BLOCK HEIGHT = 10.170
I wish I had desk Top so that I could start putting some things together and get some bass lines to go with on what will make the best HP.
Thanks,
Chris P.

Cobraf100...the block is the original 428cj .030 pistons,10.5/ 1 comp. original crank .010 /.010 , 390 rods with 3/8 arp rod bolts, original 428cj iron heads ported and polished with hardened seats, I did some oiling passage massaging,.. original C6 trans .improved for street strip use. I put about 4000 miles a year on the car and drag race at two or three events a season at Maple Grove and Cecil Co. Dragways and it has been really reliable !!!(execpt when the MSD box crapped out on the way to Carlisle....).....Good luck with your project...sounds pretty cool !!!!.......Chris M. (Mach1)
