I agree with Richard.

So I have a boat anchor motor. Oh well I wanted the truck and not the motor. I'm looking for some Ford to put in my F-100 and thought this would an easy way out. I think a 289 or 302 dressed like a Cobra motor is the correct path right now.

That would work, or a late 5.0 if you're looking for fuel injection.

The FE gets a bad rap about being a gas guzzler. I have a 63 galaxie with a 352 in it and I'm very happy with the fuel mileage. Its a 60K mile original car that is just a real nice driver. I usually get about 18-20 mpg. No it doesn't have a 2 bbl on it either. I put on the dual quads from my 427. It has progressive linkage on it so as long as I don't dip into it mileage is fine. It all depends upon your carb size, cam size, gear ratios, tune up and, the heaviness of your foot. You could turn that 360 into a nice running engine as long as its built properly and still have good fuel mileage. FE's have great torque in the low end and if its rebuilt to take advantage of that you'll love it! A properly built 360 would power that 53 F100 better than any similarly built 302 ever could. Its your call but I'd go with the FE. Good luck with the truck no matter what you choose you'll have a nice ride.

After lots of research I'm gonna stick the 360 in my F-100. If I get the truck it comes in. My father-in-law knows I want the truck and will save it for me. But it looks like I'm going to have do some slave labor to help in paying do it. Last time I worked for him I had to climb up on his cabin's tin roof and seal the plumbing vents. Another time I had to drive my airbagged truck pulling a generator up to his cabin and reweld the throttle bracket on his Ford Ranger. I had to take his pull behind genrator with me because then he didn't have electricity in his cabin. Getting this truck should prove to be real fun.
