No spark?
I have a 57 Ranchero with a 352 in it. I have been starting it about once every two weeks or so while doing some repairs on the body. I tried strarting it yesterday with no luck. It would not even sputter. I pulled a plug wire and it does not seem to getting spark. I also pulled the coil wire and nothing. Can anyone tell me where to start trouble shooting to find the problem?? Do I repalce the coil? Is there another way to check for spark?

Spark
Check the easy stuff first. Look at the points for gap and cleanliness, check connections everywhere. It is probably something minor.

Pull the center lead out of the dist. cap and place it close to the metal some where on the motor (away from the gas and carb)
with the dist cap and rotor off turn the motor over so the points are closed then turn on the key and push the points open
you should get a spark just as the points open
do you have a dwell meter? great way to set the points
have fun
