I have a water loss problem so I did compreesion test. 155-160 in all except 5 and 6 which were 148-149. If I have a cracked anything would it show up on a compression test. I also need to do a pressure test to see if I can isolate the leak.
Who sells equipment to do that teast ?
There is nothing wrong with that comp. If the crack in the head was bad enough to make you loose comp. then it probably would be pushing water out of the radiator. If the head gasket was blow between cylinders then you would loose comp. on two cyl. side by side cyls.Quote:

you can get the tester from most any tool co. or parts store.
Try a pressure test on your cooling system and cap, too. Most parts stores have a tester. The compression looks great on the engine!!!!!!
I would look into the radiator cap and install a coolant recovery bottle,my 65 galaxie with a 390 that had a new radiator and cap would lose coolant and a recovery system solved the loss. I think all the caps made today are for the recovery system and if there is no bottle coolant will be lost. Jeff
With standard 14mm plugs, a normal air hose fitting will thread in the hole and work as good as any leakdown tester. Put about 50 pounds pressure, and listen for air, look for bubbles in the rad, etc. Lock the crankshaft with a power bar, and be sure to turn it up against something secure. Even 50 pounds can give it a mean swing!
