Pretty much all of the iron heads can be made to run well with a little work. Bigger CJ size valves will work fine with a cyl bore notch. Easy to do. Some port work if you can swing it will complement them. You do want to use a set of heads that will have the bolt pattern you need for headers in your Fairlane. I think the Fairlane used the 14 bolt pattern. The Edelbrock heads are a nice upgrade and flow pretty well out of the box. It really boils down to your budget. Also what engine you decide to purchase or if your buying piece by piece. As far as intakes there are some nice choices. You basic Edelbrock RPM is a good choice but I like the Blue Thunder intakes. Were you thing of using a 1x4 or 2x4? Dove also has some very nice castings that are close in price to some of the Blue Thunders....
