    Question 352 swap

Just wanted some help on a project that i plan to do with my 66 f-100.....It now has a 351 from a 79 ranchero and i purchase a 352 that i want to install in there to make it back to its original state. Does anyone know if the tranny it has now (71 ranchero i believe) will fit the 352 i want to install in there or do i have to replace the bellhouseing or what....Can Any one advice me on this issue.....Thanks much

R Pope is right on with this. If you have a stick (sounds like it if you're talking bell housing), it shouldn't be too big a deal. More info would help - type of trans, mostly. 352, 390, 410, all the FE engines should drop right in, but you'll need to make sure you have the right bell housing. Various sources for these - I've done well with Bob's F100 in Riverside, CA, but there's John's F Fun Hundred in Orange County, and any number of other sources.

Mac's produces a catalog for these, as does Auto Krafters. Auto Krafters is on the East Coast, but also have used parts. They're at 1-800-228-7346 (just got a new catalog, and it was on my desk).

Good luck. Should be an interesting project.

You say that the intended trans is out of a 71 Ranchero? That would leave you 3 choices for automatics, the C6, the C4, and the FMX.
The C4 and the FMX have detachable bellhousings, the C6 does not. An FE C4 bellhousing is a hens tooth, the C6 would require purchasing a complete tranny for an FE engine, and if you have an FMX, I can help you out as I have an FE FMX bellhousing laying around .
If you have a Manual trans (toploader or 3 speed) you just need to track down the proper FE bellhousing. Good luck.

I have seen on ebay a aluminum bellhousing to accept a C4 tranny to a FE block. They are fairly new (maybe year or so) and sell for less than $500. In case your interested...G.
