Firing order
I know this is a basic question but I'm confused.
I got my T-Bird running after it sat for years. It's running ruff so I thought I would check the timing. But First I checked the plugs for Firing Order.
The Shop manual I have for the Bird says - 1 5 4 2 6 3 7 8.
What I found was it is wired 1 5 4 3 7 2 6 8.
Wrong Book? Wrong Engine?

Maybe a Chevy guy would
wire a Ford if he didnt know that Ford numbered
their cylinders wrong? Try the book way.
By the way, the site mind reader is off today so
we dont know what year, engine, etc that
you have.

It is a FE engine correct? 15426378 is correct and should be on the intake manifold also. Does the valve cover go over both the head and part of the intake? Also tell me if there are and casting numbers you can read off the intake or heads. On FE heads the number is between the center two spark plugs. Intake will be on the front by the thermostat housing. Does the engine have a expansion tank bolted to the thermostat housing? G.

Oops late on that one. Right side is the passenger side.

You almost got me going again.
Luckaly Boxwrench doesn't say left or right. Its diagram shows front of block with its cylinder numbering.
I mix up my left and right, but I know my front and backs.
I'm doing points gap, timing and everything else electrical this morning. Be on alert for more dumb questions.
Thanks
