Water Passages don't match Head Gasket
I am rebuilding a 429 I got out of a Ford Torino to put into a project 68 F-100 shorbox pickup. The block and the heads have elongated water passages on the sides and tear dropped shaped passages on the top of each cylinder that are not cut out in the head gasket itself. Is the gasket for the 429 meant to be a flow restrictor for water passage or could it be that someone has machined in extra cooling passages? My parts guy and I have been trying to find a gasket that matches the cooling port pattern with no luck.
Any help?
".......So sanded it all down and resprayed. ......" Been there. done that on a couple of paint jobs over the years. Usually took me a couple of days to get over being mad before I started...
