460 Ford Wiring Diagram???

Hey guys, I am out in AZ today working with my brother (callsign "Jethro") on his 46 Ford Tudor. We are wanting to take a break from the body work and fire up his 460 Ford Racing crate motor. I dont have a wiring diagram handy and since I dont know much about Ford engines, I need the assistance of a Ford expert.

Can anyone send me a wiring diagram for the Ford? I can read them easy enough and would like to hear this beauty roar before I go back to TX.

The engine is sitting in the chassis, no wiring as of yet, external coil, external ingnition module.

OK...everything is wired up correctly (I think anyway), but it wont crank. I have tested the solenoid and it all seems to work. I have even connected the starter pos + directly to the battery, but still nothing. I am used to working with chevys so I am a little lost on the blue ovals. Shouldnt the starter spin if it is grounded and the + is connected to 12v? I would think this simple test would turn the starter, but all is quiet on the western front...

If you took the big cable from the starter to the battery and it doesn't crank, then either the starter is bad or it's stuck in the engaged position....

Thanks Dave. I was able to find another starter (too big to mount), but was able to test successfully. The mini-starter is brand new and doesnt work.

We are going to contact the mail order company and wait for a new unit.

Yeah...this is why I asked the question to begin with. It has 1 large post for the POS and one small (tiny) post for the ground. By performing a continuity test as well as digging into the starter a little...the small post looks to be a ground.

So it seems it is a bad starter. Although it is strange that a brand new starter will fail, I cant explain why it will not suck the plunger down and push voltage across to the other side. And by the way, the voltage is 12.72v.

So are you saying without the ignition bypass connected to the starter, it wont engage? I assume once the ignition bypass has 12v, it would cause the plunger to engage. Correct?

Everything else is connected as your illustration shows except for the ignition bypass.
