Does anyone have a diagram of the intake manifold installation? I am looking for bolt pattern for studs and bolts, hose location and connection and any wiring for carb, choke and coil.
Using an aftermarket Edelbrok manifold, and carb. I bought a bolt kit, but it did not come with studs, but did come with nuts for studs. Wondering where the studs should be, as opposed to bolts. Torque sequence and amount would be helpful too if anyone had it.

Hello, I used to have an '83 F250 with a 460, and i too put an aluminum intake and aftermarket carb on it. Here's how I torqued the intake bolts... Start in the center and work your way out, alternating from the right side, then left side, and so on.., torque thru all the bolts to 10 ft. lbs., then go back using the same sequence and retorque to 18 ft. lbs. This should be more than sufficient for an aluminum intake.
Normally the studs on a 460 are used in the four holes on the end of the intake, two in front, two in back.
Well, I have 6 nuts, so I assume there are six studs?
I believe the center bolts can use studs also, whichever other two holes are vertical in the heads on the intake side.

The factory engine usually came with 4 or 6 studs standing straight up, at least on the four corners of the intake manifold. These studs facilitated quick alignment during factory production/assembly. They are in no way needed in order for you to install your intake...you may use only bolts if you wish. Factory torque spec is 25-30 foot pounds. Torque sequence may be found in the recommended repair manual...be sure to use silicone sealer around the water jackets.Quote:

Please note that torqing an aluminum intake to factory specs may get you a cracked intake:CRY:
