Just curious as to why you chose the 59AB over the 8-CM?

    Thumbs up

Nice choice for a really classic hot rod look. What are you going to do with hte Mercs?

    dmw56,

Nice score on the flatties. I'm with flathead4d, why not use the mercs with the 4" stroke?

Back in 1960 I bought a 35 ford 4 door and put a 50 ford block with a merc crank in it, bored it out 5/16, put Offy heads and 2 2s to top it off. The 50 block had been ported, polished and relieved. That was a srtong running flat head and similar to what yours will look like. Wish I still had it but back then I was young and foolish and the flat heads were a dime a dozen in the junk yards. BTW, my latest Street Rodder has a article on rebuilding those overdrive tranys.

    Jack.

I'm using the 59AB because it is a fresh rebuild. So it just can be dropped in. I have other projects I can use the Mercs in (29 A Roadster and 31 A pickup). I can always swap them around later.
