Just curious as to why you chose the 59AB over the 8-CM?

Nice choice for a really classic hot rod look. What are you going to do with hte Mercs?Rrumbler, Aka: Hey you, "Old School", Hairy, and other unsavory monickers.
Twistin' and bangin' on stuff for about sixty or so years; beat up and busted, but not entirely dead - yet.

dmw56,
Nice score on the flatties. I'm with flathead4d, why not use the mercs with the 4" stroke?
Back in 1960 I bought a 35 ford 4 door and put a 50 ford block with a merc crank in it, bored it out 5/16, put Offy heads and 2 2s to top it off. The 50 block had been ported, polished and relieved. That was a srtong running flat head and similar to what yours will look like. Wish I still had it but back then I was young and foolish and the flat heads were a dime a dozen in the junk yards. BTW, my latest Street Rodder has a article on rebuilding those overdrive tranys.

I'm using the 59AB because it is a fresh rebuild. So it just can be dropped in. I have other projects I can use the Mercs in (29 A Roadster and 31 A pickup). I can always swap them around later.Livin' on Route 66
I saw last night on fb about John. The world sure lost a great one. I'm going to miss his humor, advice, and perspective from another portion of the world. Rest in Peace Johnboy.
