Thanks guys for all your encouragement! It has been a rough year around here, but I look forward to more delightful times ahead. I have been keeping myself inside most times lately...so I bought a new Epiphone Wildcat Royale to soothe my pains. I will attach a pix. Keeps my picking and grinnin' hands ready to do that wrench turning when the time comes! :) Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving and have a happy holiday season for Christmas.

That'll keep you going as the Iowa winter sets in! Hope Spring brings better times.

Attachment 58537He'ssss baaacccckkkk! After a lengthy recovery, I am just about ready to resume my life with the flathead engine. I am shown here charging up the battery on the old Ford, getting ready for a street drive next week. I'm going to pull the heads in September after the first show this Fall, and do the warm up/cool down routine for about 5 times. Then, the manifold changes! Later guys...hang in there! Sorry that picture is so big!!!!!! Maybe someone can reduce the size....I'm not so smart.

Wow, what a journey you have had since 1999 with the truck and family. I have just read all 11 pages to bring myself up to speed and I would like to thank you for the photo's , ( don't worry about the size as my eyes ain't the best now either, ) and your description of what is happening. Is the one piece tilt front steel sheet metal or a fibreglass unit and did you use the grille ?

Hey there, Ford Guy, it's good to hear from you; every time something pops up in the Flathead section, I go look, and wonder how you're doing. Hope your recovery continues apace.

Well, I'm back now....front end is all steel...sat and looked at it and used Miller Lite to start the engineering flowing....finally got it right and had a welder buddy next door to help me. The 6 cyl. and the 8 cyl. fit in the same area, but the six is longer. So the "horsecollar" frame to hold the radiator and the fender panels is drilled with two positions....one for the six and one for the eight. Same for the frame. So, I had my buddy bend me some 1' square tubing to mount the radiator in the V8 position and I used the 6 position for the panel attachment. Gives me some clearance for the rotation of the front end. Just some pivot brackets for the front end, some Caddy trunk gas struts, and you got it. Thanks for all your replies...gonna' get this thing done soon!
