I just finished rebuilding my flathead last week. it has a stock ford crank and mercury heads. my question is should i had installed a 4" mercury crank? or will it be ok the way that it is?

The Merc crank would give your flattie slightly higher compression ratio, and with the 16 cubes more would add up to 10 or 20 more horses, but it'll run fine as is. You don't run a flathead for the awesome power anyway! It's all in the look and the sound!
thanks! i was hoping that was the case. its a little late now to be changing things up
does anyone know how much a flathead ford weighs (8ba)? just wondering
This site http://www.team.net/sol/tech/engine.html shows either 525lb or 569lb.
Thanks! I would had bet money that it weighed more than a Chevy small block.... but according to that web site it weighs less. thats hard to believe
