41 ford pickup tranny...
I'm picking up a drive train harvest from a ford 1/2 ton pickup. It's a side shift (so I'm assuming this is a column shift). Anyone know if it's possible to put a floor shifter on these tranny's? Like you would with a 60's pickup? I know I could convert to a later model tranny, but I'm trying to keep my RPU era specific. I know that column shifters were common on old hot rods, but I'm not sure how much work/time/money it would take to get a steering column with column shifter set up. Maybe it's failry simple, just have to find a mast with the column shifter still on it? It's sort of hard info to find because most people have moved on to modern tranny's. Any help would be appreciated.
thanks
Derek

Any of the floor shift conversions will work. Or you could find a pre-39 trans case and put your gears in it, or a complete trans. They were toploaded with a stick.
Welcome to CHR. I think that you need to hook up your vacuum advance. At part throttle when cruising you have less air and fuel in each cylinder, and the air-fuel mixture is not as densely packed...
