Any Fall shows to go to?

Anyone going to any cruises or shows now that we are in the "real" fall season?

I pulled the battery from the coupe to keep one of the farm trucks running for the harvest crew. Got a new one last night so the coupe can get running again.

I figure at least I can go for a ride or two before the snow flies.

Out here now that it's cooling off out car show season is is kicking off (it really pretty much all year round anyway).

The local car clubs' big show is today and Cade convinced me to put something in so we're taking the 57 Plymouth. I'd had kind of tried to talk him into just going as spectators instead of spending most of the day there but I let him talk me into it.

It rained all day yesterday (which is kind of unusual for this time of year), and there is the possibility of rain in the forecast, but the 57 won't melt and we should have a good time. Mostly for me it's more about seeing old friends I haven't seen in a while and spending some quality time with Cade where we aren't working on something for a change.

That's an awesome idea Mike! Cade is making great progress on the M2, so maybe next time you'll let him talk you into taking that! 8-)

We made it to the car show. It was cloudy all day and had about 10 minutes of light rain but it was worth it. I expected Cade to be pretty bored after a couple of hours but he had a great time and we ended up spending 7 hours there. What was really neat was that it was pretty much just hanging out, no yard work or working on cars just looking at other peoples work and getting a chance to talk. I saw a lot of old friends and Cade ran into a couple of the kids he goes to school with. He was also pretty impressed with some of the chassis dyno pulls.

The 57 was in the 49-59 modified class which as usual was about the most populated. I told Cade before we left that there would be a lot of really nice cars in the class we would most likely not be bringing home a trophy. Cade got it.......we were there just to have a good time. I pointed out some of the cars in the class when we were walking thru so he had some idea what I was talking about.

I actually spent too much time looking this one over ........brought back a lot of memories of the 58 mild custom I built several years ago. The problem is I know where there is another 58 Del Ray 2 dr shell sitting and I have a line on a couple of old W motors, or a big block, or maybe even a LS. I know I have supposedly sworn off any more major projects....but maybe one last project (honest doc I can quite any time )

We stuck around long enough for them to award the trophies.......I'll be darned if we didn't get the second in class. Getting the plaque was neat, but having Cade there when I did was even better.

And Mike yes he has mentioned eventually having the Mustang II done enough to put in a show someday. We had a good enough time that we're going to take the 37 to a little local show in November.

As always, a Mike P. post never disappoints! I guess the word would be "heart-warming".

Cade is so lucky to have you in his life. And you have Cade. It was awesome to read the events of the day and thanks for sharing some pics.

Oh, almost forgot, congrats on the trophy!

Very nice Mike! Congrats on the trophy and getting to spend the day with Cade. He may not realize it now but I'm sure it will benefit him later on when you were showing him other people's work. I bet it was pretty neat to see some of your friends and have Cade be able to meet them too.

I'm not sure how many shows we'll be having here in this area. After this past weekend a lot of guys may not get their rides back out until spring. I think half of the state had brine sprayed on the roads already. I'm still holding out for a drive in the Camaro before the white craps sticks around! (Fingers crossed)
