Thanks Mark for the photo's, I see that the Dessert Road was closed as of 9.30 pm yesterday due to snow and ice so you timed your run just right. I have had the pleasure of hidding black ice driving a truck through the Dessert Road and can honestly say, it is something I don't wish to do again and I was lucky in that it was on a straight stretch of road and I didn't panic and just kept the foot into it and got across the other side reseasonable straight. I try the post a picture now and see if I can.
