Yup, definitely a buyers year for sure!!!! and here I sit with money wrapped up in four different projects and not a dollar to spare in spite of how cheap some of the cars went for--especially some of the Tuesday & Wednesday cars....betcha there was some real deals then that didn't make TV time!!!!!
I only caught the last two days of this year's auction, and did see a couple of the big ticket cars go out. On the other hand I saw a lot of cars going for what seemed like low dollars, especially some rods that cost a lot more to build than what they sold for.
Anyway, today, having a few minutes of downtime, I decided to browse through some of the earlier sales days to see what was selling and to see if any of the cars I like were sold. Well I got a helluva surprise. On Wednesday (1/14/09) a 1934 Plymouth PE Deluxe, 4 door, all steel streetrod sold for $63,800! It had a SBC with a 700r tranny, IFS, with disc in front and drums in the rear, and all of the usually goodies like a/c, GM tilt steering, power driver's seat, seat belts, aluminum wheels, etc.
Let's see, that sounds very familiar, except that mine is a 2 dr, with a TH400, and a Vette IRS and discs in the rear. Either the buyer who paid that price for that car was smoking something really good or mine is way under insured.:eek::LOL::LOL:
Gotta love Barrett Jackson. Like they say "ain't no business like show business!
