Well at least I'll be able to nap in the backseat while my Son drives.:3dSMILE: :3dSMILE:
I really am disappointed that our cars missed being able to be taken again this year, especially Dan's. He has put so many hours into it and really had his heart set on driving it there. These things just take so much longer to build than we anticipate, particularly one with all the details he has been building into his. Mine is pretty basic, and I could have probably made it, but I couldn't do that to him. Mine won't go til his does.
Don
Time is the KEY. If you rush it it will look like you did and then you get to do it over:eek: Better to wait another year and be proud of it than hurry and hide. If its ment to be you'll get them both there the same time. That realy should be fun, and worth the wait.:3dSMILE:
I know what you mean don , i was hoping to have it painted by then, ohwell ive been driving without it this long, im sure it wont be the ugliest rat there
Hooray only 8 days to go, any body else?
OK, only 3 days to go now. So what is the final decision on the meeting place and time? I'll be there on Friday with my son...
Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee toooooooooooooooooooo. :D :D :D :D :D
Yeah, what are the final arrangements as far as place and time? How do we know one another? (I found out the beer hats are out of stock........something about football season.  )
Don
I guess we could just pin a note card to our shirts with "Club Hotrod" printed on it...
I thought the agreement was 3,oclock at the spot between the two white buildings on the map denny posted
It's supposed to warm up later on in the week. I hope so, I'm wearing pants today for the first time since the last wedding or funeral I went to. :D :D
Don
Be glad niether of those events were yours:LOL:
Yeah, and I'm not sure WHICH IS WORSE !!!!!!
Don
OK. 3:00 it is. Hope I can find the right spot - It's a big place and looks different on the ground...
Its the garage area, they usually have the car coral there
It does look different from the ground. Is this the area where the courtesy repair stations are?
Don
Sorry Guys, can not make it this year. Last Saturday I fell and broke my right arm just below the shoulder.
Doc says 14 - 16 weeks for recovery, of course compounded by my age and health. We were to leave Monday, but as it turned out my Wife's parents decided to drive north from Dade City florida to help us out over thr holidays since we couldn't travel there.:)
I was really looking forward to some warm weather and to meet (and make) some new friends.
Hope you all have a great event and a happy Thanksgiving!!
Bob
Oh, geez Bob, really so sorry to hear that. These accidents can happen in a heartbeat, one second you are fine, and the next you aren't.
We were looking forward to putting a face with your posts too. Wish you a speedy recovery, and next year stay in bed for a month before Turkey Run.
Take care.
Don
I hope everyone attending is having a good time as I want to be there but due to some minor surgery and the kindey stones I am staying close to home untill they blast the stones wendsday,I will be there next year in my 55 sunliner. Jeff
The countdown is now into hours, not days.:D :D :D :D I just have to do some laundry, get packed, and we are picking up my other Son at 5 AM. We are like little kids at Christmas, and it was all we could talk about today at Thanksgiving dinner. We hot rod guys are so easy to please, give us some new car part, and we are happy for a month.
Hey Bob, (Mopar34) How is the arm you broke? So sorry this happened and that we aren't going to get to meet you this year. Next year for sure.
Sorry about your kidney stones too, Jeff. Get better.
Now, where did I put my parts carrying wagon? :D :D :D
Don
Jeff
I get my stones blasted 12/1. They said this will be easier than last time. They went inside and broke them up and draged them out.
woo hoo turkey run, turkey run,got to do some last minute packing, then its off bright and early, woo hoo, sorry you guys cant make it, i was looking forward to a great meeting, but like don said theres always next year

Don
What happened to everyone? i went to the spot at 15 till 3, and stayed till 30 after, nobody showed, hope everyone had fun, the only trouble i had was on the way down, i stopped to get some gas ,and as i was leaving the parking lot, my mr gasket fuel regulator decided to puke gas from the seams, so i removed it and went on my merry way, another disapointment came today as i went to put the new finned valve covers i bought on , found out they are not the same bolt pattern, bummer, got my car in a video some guy is making about mercs, i guess he has two out allready, and hes working on the third now
Don, Thanks for the sentiment! Unfortunately, it is my right arm that broke just below the shoulder ball. And yes, I'm right handed. Can't do much of anything yet, have been using left hand for most things including typing. With recovery taking 16 weeks I won't be working on my cars, hell my family won't even let me out of their sight. Afraid I will fall again.:D
I really feel bad about it with the holidays coming. Can't even open my own pill bottle, let alone put up a tree and wrap gifts. But like they say it could have worse, similar accident killed a friend's brother several months ago.
Not sure I can take a month rest before Daytona next year, but might invest in a foam padded suit.

On Friday we go tied up clear on the other side of the swap meet, and by the time I realized the time, it was after 4 PM. That place is just too darned big, and I am totally sore from walking back and forth for 3 days. Sorry again John.
Bob: I can really feel for your arm situation, I hurt my left arm last fall and had surgery, and even though I am right handed, everything I did was a pain in the neck. Taking a shower and trying to wash your hair was a real adventure. Just take it easy and try not to reinjure it, that is the last thing you want to do.
Well, I am totally fried, and have laundry to do to go back to work tomorrow AM. Sorry again things go screwed up and we didn't get a chance to meet. We will do it next time for sure.
Don
I see how you are, just kidding, thats cool,im glad you made it alright, i was starting to get worried, i thought you were only staying friday, then you did not post for a couple days, i started thinking something bad might have happened on the way there, but im glad to see youre fine, theres always the spring run
Never been to that one, when is it? We will be there for sure, maybe even driving some honest-to-goodness Hot Rods. :D :D :D :D
Glad you made the trip ok too. Looks like your tune up on the Merc worked.
Don
Im not sure the date i know its early spring, not as big as turkey, but close, yeah all the latest work did wonders, that thing drives like a dream, even in the stop and go traffic i had no problems, all the guages stayed where they were supposed to
Sorry I didn't show up at the meeting place. I was at the run on Friday and about 12:30 I got a call from my wife that some old friends had showed up at my house for a surprise visit, so I had to leave. At least it wasn't all bad; I bought a Dave Koorey '23 T body for my next project.
The spring run usually takes place around the third weekend in March. Do a search for the "Speedway Spectacular". The spring run is not as big as the Turkey Run, but I generally have better luck finding stuff I need in the swap-meet area...
