Yep, you understand it correctly. Cam grinders cut 'em advanced because buyers tend to overcam the motor, so they put a little more bottom end in 'em, plus, I think, they do that because as soon as you begin runnin' the motor, the timing chain and sprockets begin wearing in and retarding the cam timing. So, if the cam degreed in within 2 degrees, in my opinion, you're golden.
