What size are the jets in the carb? My 302 die's after the chock let's off because it floods, I need to buy a set of smaller jets, it yer car is running rich tune the idle mix down a little then try to start it again once you get it to operating temp adjust the mixture to yer car the easest way to do this is to turn the mixture screws in until the car trys to stall then find go back until it try's to stall the other way and it will be pretty close to tuned at the fastest idle, if yer car wont stumble no matter were the scews are set you'll need smaller jets. This is assuming every thing else is tuned right plugs gaped and clean the whole nine
