302 problem
I've got a mercury (ford) 302 that I recetally put a 4 barrel on because the two barrel had a problem with the accelerator pump (I've found the easiest way to fix that kind of thing is to replace it with something bigger or better ) . but after I changed it I haven't been able to get the carb tuned right (i'm assuming it's the carbs not tuned). It will stall and sometimes quite when i give it some gas ( all depends on how much I give it to as if it quits). It also will put out smoke when it is first started and when reved. The engine idiot light comes on faintly (high temp.). The car has been sitting for 9 years and was only started every once in a while. The timing is right, it is a breakerless ignition and has hydraulic lifters. Anybody got a diagnosis?Gerig Michael H.
