Performance Dyno Tuning

Looking for opinions again

I am considering putting my truck on the rolling-loaded dyno at Granatelli Motor Sports in Oxnard, CA for testing and tuning. After speaking with the dyno techs there it seems my application would be fairly straight forward to diagnose and not too expensive, between $500-600, for a session that would include:
-dyno testing for base HP and Torque to the rear wheels
-setup of my dist on distributor machine, set optimum advance curve
-gross tuning of carb for optimum air/fuel mixture at quarter, half and WOT
-re-testing and fine tuning
-final dyno testing with output showing HP and Torque across the RPM range and % of improvement

All in all they will do several pulls and all bench service required to get there.

In my opinion a service like this is invaluable and an obvious WHY NOT, just wondering what you guys think and whether it is worth upwards of $500

hay gear I don't know what part of l.x. you live in but on the east side I would get hold of bill blakney at bills dyno on olympic blvd. at Atlantic he is a old time racer and specializes in high performance and hot rods and he is vary good he can re-curve the dist. and do a full fuel mixture curve and h.p. and t.q. and probably much less $ if you talk to him tell him hi. he is an old friend and customer of mine......ted

We dyno tune most everything that gets a performance engine in it, especially the drag cars!!! Think we can accomplish more in a couple of dyno pulls then in 5 or 6 passes at the track.... Works out great!!! As for the rate, sounds reasonable to me---don't know for sure I guess....the guy that we use also does all the carb and injection work on the cars, so we get a very low rate.... Last spring was two cars, two pulls each, total bill for the dyno time was $250.00.... Sounds like the shop is going to put a good half days work and two pulls on your car...wouldn't hurt to shop around, I guess, but it sounds reasonable for $500.00.

All required work less a few parts for about half of what I was previously quoted, and he is closer to me too

he is a a great guy vary sharp has held a lot 1/4 mile records and class championships you'll really like him and his work.......ted p.s. him and his son were students of mine back in the day I was teaching emissions.

Research - still the best game in town

So I have made an appointment to go dyno my ride at Bill's Dyno, possibly this Saturday unless the holiday weekend gets in the way, and I will be there for the entire process (along with 2 of my friends that want to 'check it out' too) - who wouldn't want to be there when the *magic* is happening?

If this Saturday doesn't work out it will have to wait 2 weeks, which is no big deal, but I will try to tune it to the best of my abilities BEFORE going to the dyno to see how well I can do on my own using the tools I have: tach, vacuum gauge, plugs, etc
