If your wanting to run 87 octane try restting the fan so you are at 160 deg. again. Also try a cooler plug. Here in the Midwest 91 octane is available most places. 93 octane and you have to know where to get it. So in my opinion 91 octane is pump gas. Also how much vac. advance do you have?If it's not broke, fix it anyway.

What happens when you spend the extra 10 cents a gallon and buy 89 octane? Does it still ping? Gas is lousy these days and ethanol is even worse. I even run mid grade in my Honda daily because that puts it where it likes to run best.
What happens when you spring for high test?

How do I determine which plug would be colder, aside from that, any suggestions on WHICH spark plug to run? (vortec head: 14mm tapered thread, 0.75" thread length)
As of last night I am running a total of 34* advance, 10* initial, 14* mechanical, 10* vacuum advAlso how much vac. advance do you have?
Next tank full will be high test, I will post results
Will do, just not sure who's data to follow, Carter or Edelbrock...
- Carter suggests 3/8" float level and 15/16" drop
- Edelbrock suggests 7/16" float level and 1-1/4" drop
Sage advice, nothing wrong with re-grounding ourselves every once in a while
I have keep pretty good notes with all the tuning I am doing and every so often I revert things back to a previous point to make sure I get the same old results, so far I do and not extra parts left over either!
Thanks for replies guys!
