    71Nova; I had a problem like that before, ended up the rod on the fuel pump on the carb was a little long so it wouldn't get any fuel when I first hit the gas, then all the sudden it would take off. But that was on a ford carburator. I always get away from the vacuum advance in the distributor. I install the weight kit so I don't have that problem with the vacuum. Let us know what you find thanks.
