    Is this correct?

Hi all, i know i'm robably beating a dead horse but i have to know, I ran my car 350 chevy till it got warm, rotated the engine by hand to adjust the valves, eshaust moves adjusted intake, intake at full lift then almost closed adjusted exshaust, i lossend the rocker thill i could move it up and down slowly tightened the lock nut till i had no more play at the valve stem, then whent 1/4 turn is this to loose, And does it matter if i could push down on the push rod because i think the lifters were still pumped up i could not push down on them with my thumb but i adjusted them anyway. Sorry for all the questions but i'm new to this and it is fustrating.

On a SBC get yourself an old valve cover and cut the center out of it, install on the side to adjust, start the engine up and with it idling loosen the rocker until it chatters, then retighten until quiet, then an additional quarter turn more and your done.
