    Help me-my eyes are burning!

    32 Ford Roadster, motor is a ZZ430
Car runs perfect, Holley 4150 VS w/ elect choke.
Car has been perfect. Drove to a show last Sunday- perfect. Drive home? Car ran great but OMG- my eyes were running like a faucet! At 1st- I thought it was my friends car in front of me but after he got off freeway- it continued. I drove it last night & same deal.

No misses, no hesitation, runs great- except my eyes are running like a faucet. I have another show to drive to this weekend & need to fix this asap.
Carb or ignition? This came up immediately, never did this before.

I'm thinking maybe choke not opening all the way?
    What are your thoughts?

Car ran great? Sounds like you have exhaust gasses making their way into the passenger compartment. It might not be fuel related at all.

That is what has me confused. I ran my hoodless '27 for years with a very overcarbed 302 Ford (two fours) and a very chopped windshield, and got none of the symptoms you are describing. Exhaust fumes would do what you describe.

Do you have open headers exiting in front of the cockpit or a full exhaust system? Something is putting out exhaust fumes, like leaky header gaskets, etc. I can't see a rich carb doing this because the unspent gas would exit through the exhaust system.

Something is missing from this scenario.

I would have to vote with Don and 65NY, especially if you notice your sinuses burning or itching also. It would be exhaust leak for sure.

Had this happen on my 64... Turned out that the exhaust had melted a plastic plug in the floor of the trunk and it was comming in there...
I didn't want to change the exhaust so I just made a metal plug to put in the hole and that fixed the problem.

sounds like exhaust. Look for air leaks in the rear of the car. Sometimes ( usually, I think ) there is a high pressure area at the rear of the car, and if you have air leaks, exhaust can come in.

if it's running that fat the idle would go away. if it idles it aint the float setting or power valve. kinds strange because it just started. exhaust leak maybe. on a roadster i would think you would not even smell it.
