Sounds like it's time to redrop the distributor. Pull number one plug, crank it and put your finger over the hole and find true compression by letting it blow your finger out of the hole. Watch your timing marks and line it up. Drop the distributor where it belongs and give it a go.

If you're still having trouble after heeding warrior's advice, then either you have the wrong front cover timing tab for the damper used or the outer ring of the damper has slipped on the elastomeric material used between the ring and hub of the damper and you'll never get it timed properly.

If that's the case, get a piston stop tool and a timing tape to correct TDC so you can time the motor with a light.

Electric choke needs to be hooked up to a 12V source thats hot only when the ignition is in the on (run) position. My not being familiar with your wiring setup, you may have to hunt around for a wire to tap into. On my car I ran a wire straight to the fuse block where there was already a terminal for 12V when ignition is on. Ive heard others say that you can also use one of the wiper motor wires on some cars. Good luck
