Tuning with my A/F monitor.

I just bought a Edelbrock A/F monitor, I know it's not a wide band, but I was pretty close to these numbers anyway....and I am cheap.

With my initial timing at 15, and total timing at 36....The highest vacuum, of 13 inches.
My reading at idle is 13 on the monitor.
At 4000 rpm's, I am at 12.5 on the monitor.


Should the A/F be at 14.5 for optimal? If so, do it with timing or the fuel from the carbs?

You will want to tune a Holley carb with smaller jets if you want to lean it out. To tune an Edelbrock carb, you can tune it with metering rods and jets.

Before you do any tuning, just where do you have the air/fuel probe mounted? Where you mount it and how it's mounted can affect how the unit reads and can be +/- more than 20%.

2 inches behind the end of the header.
Passenger side, if that matters.
I am running dual quads, so it's a bit tougher to tune.
Set the timing with vacuum, then the jets? progressive linkage.
