dual carbs on a 671

Ive got two 500 edelbrocks that I,m thinking of using on my blown sb chevy. Some people say that that wont work right on it? But there seems to be alot of them out there. Some say that I might run into a lean condition

i have used them they work great but you want to check them that they do not lean out. i have put them on out of the box and had them work very good

What do I have to do if it gets lean? all them damn metering rods? It will pretty much fall on its face at full throttle?

What kind of pistons do you have, forged or cast? If you are using cast, DO NOT GO LEAN!! I have a friend who raced an engine with cast pistons. He was coming out of a corner, let of the gas, and the engine literally exploded. This was due to the fact that when an engine goes lean, it gets extememly hot( you probably know this). Forged pistons are more willing to expand, whereas cast cannot expand as much. This was his explanation, not mine, though. Just my 2 cents.

I don't think cast pistons are an option with the huffer. Cubic inches
has someting to do with cfm, plus the blower. Sounds a little small with
all that wind.

This motor is built well--a little overdone probably! It had two holleaks on it and I put two edelbrocks on it. Someone told me that the e-brocks dont work well on a blower.

run it thru the gears with a vacuum gauge a make sure it will not make more vacuum as it get to wot or it could pull the meter rods all the way down you should be not be on the thick part of the meter rod you may have to play with the setup springs. i do not know who told you they do not work on blower s ???just more useless B.S?? i have two 750 on my 548 it has never fell on it face you may see more hp from holleys but in the long run i think the afb/edy/carter work better all round

The formula for blown applications is CID X RPM X BOOST, DIVIDE BY 14.7 + 1.

how big of a small block? yes 500 are a bit to small 650 would be better BUT are you drive it like you stole it? or driving it to church and back????even with the small carbs i think you may run out of road or balls to run it lean ???

i have 2 holley 600s on my engine, but we changed it to progressive linkage so it only runs on 1 carb just idleing and barely cruising. Runs great. never heard of it getting to lean and damaging the engine? Any comments on this?
