Ok, I know I'm thinking ahead now, but I know that I have to break in my camshaft by running 2k for 20 minuites, but on the initial startup, how do you time the engine when you cannot let it idle to find base timing?

I'm using a Duraspark II distributor. so in all effect, TDC on the compression stroke, put distributor in with rotor dead on #1 right? I can break in the cam with this?, or should I guess advance it a little ( or retard it ) right after it starts?
I bought a brand new reproduction balancer so I should be able to trust it to find TDC.
