    plug wires melted

Found out why my chevy was only running on 6 cylinders. My spark plug holder came loose and let two of my plug wires touch my headers. Great mileage, but lousy performance.

It is interesting that one burnt on the distributor cap end....at least that's a cap boot on the top one. I know, I've used cap boots in a pinch too.

You can buy single wires for a lot of brands....patching them is iffy. To test, have a really good friend hold the wire while the engine is running. If he doesnt jump, have him wet his hand and hold it again.

If I had my buddy(who's 6'6" ) hold the wire when wet and if the insulation didn't work, I'd be the one with my hair sticking on end as he would shove it up you know what!!!!

Denny No there not solid core. I have just put a new set on with plenty of space from my headers.

IS UR WIRES TO SHORT,,,,IF SO BUY WIRES FOR A BIG BLOCK!!!THIS WILL BE A EASY SOLUTION!
CONTINUED: REASON I WAS SAYING BUY BIG BLOCK WIRES,IS THEY ARE MUCH LONGER,THEN A SMALL BLOCK PLUG WIRES,OF COURSE,THIS WAY YOU CAN RUN THEM AND GET THEM OUT IF THE WAY,OR BETTER YET JUST MAKE UR OWN WIRES!

thats the way my older brother used to check wires. hold the plug end and have someone to turn the motor over. if you hold it tight enough it won't hurt to bad. now i want ever body to try it that way tomorrow.
