well its not the headers doing it and the temp runs around 250 somebody told me that when i advance it like that and shut it off after running it that with it being advaced the pressure or something in there causes it to be hard to turn over but if i retard the timeing some it is ok but i lose that quick response and power so i was wondering if i could make that up by useing a adjustable vacume advance and or different weights or springs in the distributor

I'd say 250 is a little warm try to get the temp to 180-190 even 200 differant rad or fan or pump. You need to set your timming to about 36* total at 3000 rpm run 8-14* inital an the rest in the dist. mech & vacume you may have to have the dist. recurved to work with the engine better. Without more info that is all I can say hope that helps Dave.
