i guess i take to much for granted, but the right side of a motor or car is sitting in the drivers seat looking out forward. anything on the passenger side is the right side, standing behind the motor looking down at the motor the right side is on the right and standing if front of the motor looking down at it your lift is on the motors right. the flywheel is the rear and the timing chain is the front. While I was writing this I was thinking about it being in a boat and that could get confusing i guess, but then it goes back as where the flywheel is, and that's always the rear so the right stays on the right. now im :confused:Quote:

I made number 1 on my actual right side.. which is actually numerb 5 ?? do i have this correct or am i all turned around( if i am looking at the distributor. ( i got it to run like that .. i hope it didnt mess anything up. It ran but very crappy. and it didnt sound good when it was running.
Thanks for the encouragement about the questions. I am still learnign this stuff and you all make it very nice to learn. I have come so close to throwing my hands up and paying someone but i am going to figure it out.
thanks again and i hope you all have a good weeekend
the dist. has nothing to do with the right or left of the motor. most ford dist. is in the front and most gm is in the rear of the moyor. #1 is on the lift side of the motor on most gm's and #1 is on the right side on most fords. stand at the flywheel looking over the motor. looking at the dist. from the front the right side of the motor is on you left, just like the pic. denny gave you.
