Sparkplug wire installation
This might be a stupid question, but I am putting new wires (there weren't any on it when I got it) on my Chevy 216 inline 6. I have the firing order but I am not sure which cylinder is #1. Is it the front or the back? Also where on the distributor do I start the firing order. I know that this is a beginner question, but that is exactly what I am. Thanks,
Matt

Not a stupid question, th spark plug closest to the front on an inline six is #1. remove this plug put your finger over the hole and turn the motor over by hand as the timing mark starts to come up to top dead center you should feel compression under your finger. if you do, line up the timing mark on the balancer to tdc , and the rotor should be pointing at #1 on you distributor cap. If you did not feel any compression you will have to turn the engine again 1 turn and stop at tdc. and see were your rotor is pointing this should be #1 carlg
