my answer is simple, pull plug number one, and keep the wire connected with cap on, turn distributor slowly til plug sparks, then back it up just a hair.... its not as accurate, but its the best you can do with hei, btw coil must be connected and getting power as well

as for the vaccuum, i believe the ported is more of a fuel smog type thing
