    idles to fast

i went up maplegrove for their swap meet i picked up a 650 double pump for 80 bucks . i have another one at home that was all but brand new cept i broke one of the ears off so i figure ill use the one i bought for parts concidering a new base plate would cost over a hundred dollars . were u hook the throttle cable the ear wobbles on the shaft. so i changed shafts also. both carbs have the same number 4777-2 after installing the carb i cant get it to idle every time i accelarate and let off it wont drop below 1500 unless i punch it or put springs on it so heavy you get charlie horses !!!has anyone ran in to this before what should i look for the only thing i can think is to pull the carb loosen the butterflys push the lever as tight as i can and reset the butterflys buy the way i installed the crank gear straight up considering thats were the cam was degreed at just looking for more tork thats all

Maybe worn baseplate, letting air around the throttle butterfly shafts? I've had this on a high-mileage Holley in the past.

    fast idle

the secondary set screw . flip throttle body over look at secondary will be on same side as choke on throttle body depending on cam size and h.p. rating you should adjust 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 turns out from plates closed also if you changed over both shafts you need to make sure that one carb had bushing in throttle plate that other carb does as well holley was very inconsistent in mid 90s to about 2000.. goood luck iwould sa scrap it and buy new not reman holley's should be one owners or only little use to be worth calling your own

i found it on the same side as the choke this is a manual choke carb theres a braket under that is a screw thats screwed to the front throttle shaft i took that off and the carb idles fine without any speedup so i guess i just turn the screw out a little and see what happens
