Has anybody ever tuned a carter carb?

    Hello,
I have a carter performance AFB carburetor in my 428 FE, and well I noticed that when the car is turned on, i9t idels fast, and the smoke that comes out of the exhaust is to strong, making it seem like it's burning way to much gas. In other words it's too rich, and I don't know how to tune one, but if anybody has any experience with them maybe you can help me out in this matter. Also my car keeps on running after I take out the key, which I think it's because of the carb.
    Thanks for reading my thread.

    Hello,

Thanks for the info, I will check that right now. I do have another carb that I bought on e-bay, sspeed demon 650cfm, do you think that is a good size for a 428 FE?

Are you running a big cam or one close to stock?

The engine was built about 4 years ago, and the old owners told me that it had been a stock build up. So the cam should be a stock. Well the speed demon be ok, I don't use the car over 4500rpms except when I'm throwing flames from my exhaust.
