Yeah, check rod bearings.
Thanks is there anything else you can think of that could be causing it to knock. The knock speeds up with the rpms. In other words the higher the rpms the faster the knock.
rebel, if it is a knock, it is most likely a stretched rod which means you will have to have the rods resized and new bearings installed.
One way to check to verify it is a rod, is to disconnect one spark plug wire at a time until you no longer hear the noise. Obviously you re-connect each wire after each try. heheheh, otherwise, most certainly the noise will disappear after about three disconnects! hahahah! Ha ha, I crack myself up!
Thanks TyphoonZR
Also check the flexplate. Some of the old 307s snapped their flexplates which sounds like a knock. If you need more referance on the SBOs, I know a little about them;)
Thanks drg84 nows when I get to feel stupid, were is the flexplate. :HMMM:
Back of the motor. Bolt your tranny up to it. Sometimes called a flywheel.
Thanks man
If you woulda said flywheel I woulda been like ight. I feel stupid for it but I've never heard them called a flexplate Thanks though I already checked that and the "flexplate" is perfect. I'm starten to think its a bearing though anyone else have any suggestions let me know I'm confused so bad right now
Anyone else got any suggestions I really need some help. Try'n to get the engine done before it snows so all I got is body work next summer before the super sport drags.
I have been needing to gas it a lot to start it, and when it does run, it chokes, so I am thinking it needs a new oxygen sensor. What do you guys think.
Doubt it. The 02 sensor on the feedback carbs has very little to do with the actual starting. My suggestion would be to pull the engine codes. If you get an o2 code, fine, but thats probably not it. Now when you say gas it, do you mean pump it or do you mean pour gas down the carb?
