I had a six cylinder in a truck that sounded retarded
and i had more than one person ask me if i had a 409
under the hood,i have not heard a 409 but it cant be
that bad:p
Dot, thats a new one on me..Ive had 409s.....they have unique note , but Ive never heard any 6 that sounded like it.
BC...just curious, why do you want dual exhaust ? Im bettin youd be better off performance wise with a big single exhaust, probably sound better to
If you want dual exhaust, contact Clifford exhaust. They have a neat dual exhaust system for your 300.
If you really wanna save do what i did cut the Y pipe so there 2 seperate pipes, then cut and weld pieces to get it pointed to the back (or flexy-pipe can be used, prolly be easier), and then run fence post back, then split to the sides or get some tail pipes, and your done. $10 per 6 foot fence post ($20 one for each side), $12 if you get flexy-pipe, then cost of your desired mufflers and/or tail pipes (if you want to use these). Depending on mufflers and tailpipes you could have a personal dual exhaust for under $100. I got some free lightly used mustang muflers, and tail pipes for free, from a buddy, so all I spent for my dual exhaust was $22 for the 2 fence posts. I guess it matters how you want this to be, I chose hillbilly.
My grandfather just bought a 1995 Ford F150 with the 300 str8 6 with dual exzaust, it's not true dual exzaust but sounds good, the 2 tailpipes come out of a dual outlet muffler and they both go right out the back ( 1 on each side, like cat back system on V8 trucks ), may want to look into this kind of muffler. The truck is 2wd.

you can buy the flange kit from clifford and make youself some headers if you like, but years ago we have cut the exaust manifold in half, weld a plate to each half and then cut a whole in the 2 manifolds and weld a flange to each one for your header pipe, get a muffler shop to make you a set of duel exhaust and then you can sound retarded. :LOL: :LOL:
300 I6 is kind of an odd motor to run Duals on. There are Exhaust manifolds out there for dual, but I personally would go Header-Highflow cat-2,1/2 or bigger pipe(3 should be good)-Turbo muffler-tailpipe. If you use this truck for towing or moving a lot of heavy materials, remember, a little backpressure is a good thing to have for torque.
