and then it depends on what ya want, what ya can afford, & what ya got to start with...............joe
Joe,
I got it started the other day and it sounded pretty good, no lifter noise or any rattling so I think I'll leave it in untill I get the car done and then go from there. I would like to put a flathead back in it but everyone that I have talk to around my area says to leave the chevy motor in it cause overall it would be less expensive and easier to maintain.

thats sooo true, unless ya got $$$$$$$$$$ to burn the SBC is the way to go. yes i dig flathead also but when i had my own ford that had a stuck flathead(been sitting 20+yrs w/heads off) & then i priced the parts to do it i about fell over along w/ya dont know if ya got a good block untill you get into it. if my memory is correct for what it would of cost me to rebuild my flathead i could of bought 2 or 3 new SBC crate motors. so it was an easy choice for me....SBC..................joe
I think I'm gonna keep a small block in it cause my dad just gave me his out of his chevelle today it's a 350 bored 30 over large cam and so on. He's putting a 454 in his chevelle
