Another good FE site is www.fordfe.com Go for the 427 if you can swing it. But if you can find an old Ford 406 it will have the oil mods the early 427's had but with a 4.13 std 428 bore. Some of the 406's had cloverleafed cyl walls and can handle a 427 std bore. Some of the 406's also have the crossbolt knorbs to crossbolt the bottom end but you need the 427 maincaps. The 406 was only produced for a year so they are getting hard to find. I found mine for $1500 complete but .030 and needing a rebuild. Or if your really stuck on the 429/460 look at some of the crate motors Ford Motorsport is selling. Either way welcome to the madness. G.
