I think Im gonna be sick. Just finished the assembly of my short block today and when I went to torque the first head I hear a snap . so I pull the head back off to find that the bolt hole where the head alignment dowel goes had a helicoil put in at one time and it had just pulled the whole thing out of the deck. Now I have a huge hole (1/2 or so) where I need 7/16 threads. Any ideas??? :CRY: :CRY: :CRY:

I tried to put a new helicoil in but the hole is just too big it wont grab in the block.

Drill out the oversized hole for a 3/4 inch bolt. Drill and tap the center of a 3/4 inch bolt with a 7/16 tap. You need a lathe to keep it centered. Cut off the threaded part of the 3/4 bolt and scew it in the hole with locktite. You should run a tap in all the bolt holes in the block before assembly. If you find any more helicoils you should scrap the block. Whoever put them in didn't do it right.
