Horsepower or Torque
Ive recently obtained teh latest edition of Hot Rod Engines, and they were talking about which is better, Horsepower or Torque. What do you think is better?

horsepowe is the result of tourque...torque/time.
dpends on the application, if you have a car thats going to be hard to hook up, than you might be better off killing some of the low speed torque, but generally I like torque.75 GMC C-15 factory 454, automatic, lowered

Torque is what twists the tire, prop, or pump. Horsepower helps us understand an amount or quantity of torque.

Torque and HP are equal . . . at least at 5252 RPM.

Henry is right. this has been done time and time again. But, why not. HP is for higher Rpms, torque for launch. You wanna pull something? get a torquer. You wanna race for miles? build for 10000 RPMs. Or, just gear your rear end/tranny really high.Originally posted by Henry Rifle
