im sick to my stomach
i just spent the better part of 3 months cleaning up and installing a 305 chevy motor in my 80 grand prix....the engine compartment is a 100 pointer easy at shows....anyway i started the motor up and have been driving it for about 4 days now and i noticed a little smoke when i start it up...i know bad valve seals...ok i can live with that ill just check the oil more often and add when it needs it...well i noticed to day i like blue smoke coming out of the tail pipe and when i reved it up:whacked: a cloud of blue smoke.........  im actully in shock...i took the motor out of a lowmilage car that was takin car of...i had sprayed some carb cleaner in it just perviously to noticing the smoke but i dont think its the cause....im sad...all the time and money wasted

maybe im being to negative...the weather was in the 90s yesterday and now its in the 50's i didnt notice anything yesterday....it could just be condinsation....i noticed that water drips were coming out of the tail pipe

I agree. If it hasn't run for 3+ months it may just need to loosen up a little.

Maybe during the engine swap a bit of oil went down the exhaust pipe?

I agree, run it and things will loosen up again and start working.

Run an engine flush, throw in some good oil and run it for about 1000 miles. Then just go on the 3000/3 months routine. If its been setting, your seals need to expand and your old oil is probably bad. Nothing worse than congeled oil.
