I do not use anything on carb gaskets, especially not permatex it's too hard to clean off later.

It is a gasket sealing compound and was popular in the 60's. We used to call it tar, stuck to everything and made a mess if you weren't careful, real hard to get off of parts after it baked on.
Permatex makes some good products - but I'd never use any of them on a carb.
