Here's a rebuild manual for the 292 from Mercruiser.....

If I wanted to use it in an automotive application, I'd choose parts for any Chevy 292 pickup truck from 1962 to the mid-eighties. Any truck boneyard should have piles of these motors unless scrap prices have sent them to the fiery caldrons.
