One SPDT relay can do it all. Switches are easy. The ideas are fun!

Here's an update on how the new expanded recovery system is working,
Went out today (100° +), one of of my cooling fans went down and the motor heated up, recovery system held everything and recycled just like it should.
Fixed the fan, everything is good, no spills, no drips, no worries.
Good news and glad to hear it's working as intended.
I had a problem with the overflow tank that kept me scratching......fill the overflow tank and drive the car......after cool down, check tank and it was bone dry but radiator 100% full. Refill overflow and same thing happens. Thought overflow had crack that leaked...nope. Radiator level never got low. Discovered that the overflow tank volume matched the amount of expansion in the radiator almost exactly.....radiator filled overflow tank and pushed excess out. Radiator cooled and pulled the exact volume back into radiator leaving tank dry. Solution? Leave system as it stabilized. Tank is empty when cool but I dont get alarmed now. I check the radiator when cool....never low.
My recovery tank did not match the radiator's expansion and was sucking air back, now it balances perfectly, no air.
The new tank mounted low is opaque, not translucent, so you cannot see the level in the tank, is that correct? And the "overflow" of that tank is piped to the old vertical tank? Do you keep fluid in the upper tank? Just trying to understand how you know the lower tank is running 1/2 full, and what's going to keep it there.
The catch can is semi translucent, you can see into it (especially with the green antifreeze), it is piped to the vertical tank which is catch only now. If you look at my drawing you'll see I modified the catch can to work as a horizontal recovery tank (it has a lower entrance and an upper exit now), it vents through the original recovery tank. If the fluid expands past the catch can, the original recovery tank catches it and it all recycles back into the radiator on cool down.
So far it has worked perfectly and it got pretty hot today when the fan went down, was able to cool the motor down enough to shut her down by running the heater (sucks in 100° plus weather). Thanks to the new set up there was no air in the radiator, everything cooled down and recycled like it should.
Got both fans back online and took it back out in the heat with the A/C on, and it ran cool! No troubles. I'm liking my little modified catch can a lot right now.
Good deal!! I had looked at JEGS and everything I saw there was either billet or black, so I was having a hard time understanding how it functioned. Glad it's working right, and I'd agree you gave it the acid test with the fan!
