    Howards Cams?

How many here have used Howards Cams, lifters and valve springs or just the cam alone? I am looking at buying a Howards cam and lifter kit but want to get more opinions on them first since I have never used them. So far I have heard nothing but good things about their cams and customer service and am thinking about giving them a shot on a hydraulic flat tappet cam for my sbc that is going into my chopped 49 Ford.

Thanks in advance for any info, suggestions, and opinions!

With today's oils a flat tappet cam is risky business, IMO. Can be done, but initial start & break in are super critical, and keeping a high zinc additive in the oil is mandatory. Don't mean to preach to the choir - you may know lots more than I do about it, just sayin' it's a potential problem.

Thanks guys! Pat, I forgot about Erson! How is their customer service?
Jim, I have been gone offline. Lots of things have changed in my life. 4 months ago I would have said for the worse but now things are turning. Parents got divorced, family member died, got caught in the middle of the divorce, girlfriend of 5 years left, had to move out with only a weeks notice, lost job, etc etc. Now I own my own shop doing high end auto detailing and paint correction and started a rockabilly type band.
The shop and business alone takes up most of my time and life. How have you been?

oh not me been set on fire . lost a family member some other things in life. working and from time to time when i can getting my ass handed to me with this great economy . picking up some more machines for the shop .other then that abit older and meaner and kicking and bitching to keep a float . for a custom roller or other hi end parts i deal with many of the top cam grinders .but really for what your doing i would buy a eligin kit or engine pro .most of the lower dollar cams are not made by the cam grinders just big cam mills then they slap it in a cool box with a neat sticker
