1969 hurst oldsmobile help

i have been having a problem fixing up my original 1969 Hurst olds due to the military doesn't pay very much lol well my dilemma right now is my belts keep slipping off and as i looked at it today i say that the spacing was off the pulley that is connected to the water pump needs to have a spacer put into it about 1/4 of an inch or slightly bigger i also need to find the original carburetor and the tail fin was stolen i also need to find the original tires on it my budget is realy small but i dont want to just put random parts on the car it has been in my family since 1969 when my grandfather bought it any other parts that i could find cheap would help thank you gentlemen

Ok, taking them one at a time:

1) Belts coming off. You need to put something like a carpenters metal square across the grooves in the pulleys to see if you can determine what is off, if anything. Most likely culprit is the alternator or some accessory like power steering belt or ac belt (if so equiipped). The water pump pulley and crank pulley are pretty much fixed and so long as they are original that alignment should be ok. But with a 42 year old car anything is possible and you have no way of knowing what may have been changed during that time.

2) Carb on that was a Rochester Q Jet, I think. What does it have on it now? Are you looking for an absolutely correct carb or just one that will run properly?

3) What is this "tail fin" you are referring to? Didn't know 69 Olds had fins.

4) Someone like Coker tire will be your best source for tires that are what were on the car when it was new.

5) Hole in exhaust........you're on your own on that one.

thank you and its the white fin below the back window its pretty small but if u look at pictures you will see what im talking about and i just went out to look at it again the carb is an edlebrock and yes sir im looking for the exact one

and i did look at the belts again and the water pump pulley is not alligned like the rest of them they all line up except that one it needs to be pushed out 2/8 of an inch so i need to find some type of space that will fit behind it to push it out

As I see it, the water pump pulley is either the wrong one or there was originally a spacer behind it that someone forgot to reinstall. That wouldn't be hard to duplicate or find. Call these people, they have lots of parts for that car and know about them too. They should be able to steer you straight.

As for the carb, the Edelbrock is not original to that car. There must be an adapter plate under it to change from the Rochester profile to the Edelbrock profile. Again, ask Year One about that carb.

I know the service doesn't pay a whole lot, but that particular car is worth a few bucks and desirable. You may have to just do enough to keep it running for now, and then later on spend some money to do a proper repair/restoration on it.

Post up some pictures, we love em. Btw, what cubic inch is that Olds, a 455?

Thank you for your service, it is very much appreciated. When you say "white fin" I think you may be referring to the spoiler across the trunk as shown in this picture? If you google "1969 hurst olds" you will come up with lots of links to other enthusiasts, including at least one club dedicated to your model. Here's one guy that seems to be a "clearing house" of information, and like Don advised, Year One should be a good source of parts and information, too.
