I know if you bore a 305 chevy engine out .030 and use a 3.75 crank from a 350, you'll get a 334 inch engine but still because of the small bore it's not really feasable. on my 305 I bored it out .060 and have a 3.75 crank that I can use and was wondering what size this would give me. I have to much $$$ in this engine and it runs great and with the new heads I increased the rear whel HP by 30. Just and idea I'm floating around.
305 and 350 are the same stroke. 305 30 over with a stock 3.48 crank is 310 cu. 305 30 over 3.75 crank is 334 cu, 3.75 crank is a 400 and used to stroke a 350 out to 383
305 60 over 3.75 crank = 342
But what size would a 305 bored out .060 over to a 315 with a 3.75 crank be?

Why not!!! I've got the engine, the crank and all the other goodies I will need. Won't be spending much $$$ on this project and I'll have a engine that will be around 340HP and torque which is all I want.
Sounds like a good idea to me, especially if you already have everything...Sure a 350 with the bigger stroke would produce more power, but if what you have is in good shape, why not use it???? Doubt you're planning on doing a huge number of all out assaults at the drag strip anyway!!!!Quote:

The best part is that i was doing the local 1/8th mile here in snohomish and it was pulling 7.51 and looking for more.
Oh did i mention she spins easily to 6400 with the vortec heads and open plenum aluminum high rise with a nice reground hydralic roller cam. It is running 6 psi of boost t4 turbo love. Best of all was when i took my first place trophy position and when i had 20 or so people looking to see what was under the hood since i race for the last 4hrs and never popped the hood. When i popped the hood the eyes ewwhed and ahhhed and ask what engine it was 383 or a 406? I BOASTED that no its a 305 with vortrc heads and they couldnt beleive it. She now has the boost cranked up to 11 psi and i drive it daily. I built the engine for 20psi of love and will turn it up more after i instal the seconf electric fuel pump to keep the fuel to it.:eek: Got video of the races of me whooping up on modded wrx`s ,Mustang cobras,2006 vette with slicks, even v8 s-10 and chevy luvs. Oh that 454 open headers thought he would take it when he got me out of the whole.But she pulls hard and i drove right on by him full truck length
would overheating be problem with a .06 ovedrbore on a 305? or is there still plenty of meat between the cylinders?
I've never had the engine run more than 180 degrees and when it's sitting at a light or slow traffic my electric fans kick in and drop it back down real quick. .o6o is about the max for a 305.
thanks, I've always been too nervous to go over .03 but my engines have all been cruisers
Sorry to resurrect an older thread, I am possibly the only 305 loving car enthusiast on the planet. I grew up with them in the 80's when mom bought them new. Now I have a nice 85 Camaro Z28 survivor with a TPI 305 rated at a measly 215hp/275tq. They make meaner 4cylinders these days so I am extremely interested in your findings Cadracer! I am wanting to stick some 062 or 906 Vortec castings on the 305 bore. It has flat tops from the factory and I am unable to find anyone who has done this to let me know if milling the heads will be okay? All I see is speculation. I am guessing your heads are 64cc because of the turbo but I figure that would be an awesome set-up to do as well. :cool: I would be more than happy to stick an intercooled procharger on there and get to tuning it out on a dyno. Please, tell me more about your engine!! Thanks, this is REALLY important to me! :D
Is there a video of the engine. I have 305 that I already completed the machining new piston, cam the whole lot and I want to know what the outcome of this motot.
